Privacy policy
Last updated 29 September 2026. Applies to Word Sprint and to every other game published by Thierry Berger, on every platform it is available on, and to this website.
Who is responsible
Thierry Berger, entrepreneur individuel (EI, micro-entreprise), SIREN 792 783 789, 39T rue de Fagnon, 08000 Prix-lès-Mézières, France. Contact: contact@thierryberger.com. This is the "controller" of your data under the GDPR.
The short version
- There is no account and no game server. Your progress is stored only on your device. Deleting the game, or clearing its data, deletes it.
- Word Sprint sends anonymous gameplay statistics to GameAnalytics so we can see what works: a random ID the game creates on your device, and events such as "race finished". No name, no email, no location, no contacts, no advertising ID.
- Word Sprint shows ads. Who serves them, and what they collect, depends on where you play. See below.
- LearnIt and Combien ça coûte ? have no ads. They count visits and anonymous game events with our own analytics server, without cookies.
What is collected, and why
| What | Why | Legal basis (GDPR) | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gameplay statistics: a random install ID generated by the game, a session count and timestamps, the platform (iOS, Android, web), the operating system version, the game's language, and events (launches, races started and finished, coins earned and spent, purchases in the in-game shop, ads watched). Your IP address is seen by GameAnalytics when the data arrives | Measuring retention and balancing the game | Legitimate interest (art. 6(1)(f)): anonymous, aggregated measurement of a free game. You can object: see "Your rights" | 12 months on a rolling basis, then anonymised or deleted (GameAnalytics' retention policy) |
| Ad data: see the platform sections | Showing ads, which pay for the game | Consent where an advertising ID is used; otherwise the ad provider's own basis | Set by the ad provider |
| LearnIt and Combien ça coûte ? statistics: pages visited, anonymous game events (such as "quiz finished"), and the browser, operating system, device type, country and referring site. Counted without cookies; your IP address is not stored | Knowing which topics people play | Legitimate interest (art. 6(1)(f)) | [Umami retention: set in its settings] |
| Progress on your device: save, settings, daily results | Playing the game | Performance of a contract (art. 6(1)(b)) | Until you delete the game or its data. It never leaves your device |
The games do not collect: your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, precise location, precise device model, or anything you type. We don't sell data.
Where you play
On TikTok (Word Sprint mini game)
- TikTok login. When the game starts it asks TikTok for a silent login. TikTok returns a one-time code; the game keeps it on your device and never sends it anywhere, so we do not learn your TikTok identity. It is needed for TikTok's home-screen shortcut and profile rewards.
- Ads are TikTok's own in-app ads. TikTok (TikTok Pte. Ltd. / TikTok Technology Limited in the EEA) decides what data it uses to serve them, under TikTok's privacy policy.
- Sharing. When you share a daily result, TikTok's own message picker sends it. The game does not see who you send it to.
- Statistics: GameAnalytics, as above, and TikTok's own mini-game analytics (the same events, reported to TikTok's developer console).
- Your progress is kept in TikTok's storage on your phone. Clearing TikTok's cache or changing phones deletes it.
In the iOS and Android apps
- Ads are served by AppLovin MAX (AppLovin Corporation, USA) and the ad networks it works with. With your consent, AppLovin uses your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, advertising ID on Android), your IP address and ad interactions to show and measure ads. The first time you open the app in the EEA or UK you are asked for consent, and on iOS Apple's "Allow tracking?" prompt follows. Saying no still lets you play; ads are then less personalised. See AppLovin's privacy policy.
- Reminders. If you allow notifications, the game schedules up to three reminders on your phone (for example when a daily reward is ready). They are created on the device; nothing is sent to a server.
- Sharing copies a short text to your clipboard; you choose where to paste it.
Word Sprint in a web browser
Gameplay statistics as above. No ads are shown in the web version today.
LearnIt (learn.thierryberger.com)
LearnIt plays in your browser, with no account and no ads. Your progress, the topic you chose and the sound setting stay in your browser's storage. Visits and anonymous game events are counted by Umami, an analytics tool we run ourselves on our server in France: no cookies, no third party, and nothing that identifies you.
Combien ça coûte ? (combien.thierryberger.com)
Plays in your browser, with no account and no ads. The game downloads its questions and the daily challenge from our server in France; nothing about you is sent back. Your daily result stays in your browser's storage, and you choose whether to share it. Visits and anonymous game events are counted by Umami, as for LearnIt.
This website (games.thierryberger.com)
No cookies, no trackers, no advertising, and the web server keeps no access log. Your browser's requests (including your IP address) reach the server only to deliver the pages. The site is hosted in France by Scaleway SAS (see the legal notice).
Who receives data
| Recipient | Role | Location | Safeguard |
|---|---|---|---|
| GameAnalytics | Processor (statistics) | Outside the EU possible | GameAnalytics' EU Data Processing Addendum, with the EU Standard Contractual Clauses |
| AppLovin Corporation | Independent controller for ads (app builds) | USA | EU–US Data Privacy Framework (AppLovin is certified) |
| TikTok | Platform and ad provider (TikTok build) | Set by TikTok's privacy policy | TikTok's own terms |
| Scaleway SAS | Hosting of this website, LearnIt and Combien ça coûte ? (including our Umami analytics) | France | None needed |
Children
The games are for a general audience and are not directed at children under 13 (under 15 in France for consent to data processing). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the game, contact us and we will help remove what can be removed.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Because the game has no account, we can only find your statistics by the random install ID stored on your device, and we can't link them to you otherwise. Write to us and we will delete whatever can be matched to you. The simplest way to stop all statistics and delete local data is to uninstall the game.
You can withdraw ad consent at any time: by resetting or deleting your advertising ID in your phone's settings, and on iOS by turning off tracking for the app in Settings → Privacy → Tracking.
You can complain to the CNIL (www.cnil.fr) or to your own country's data protection authority.
